To be Sienna Miller on a Monday

Most people claim they don't function well on Mondays and preparing an outfit for the day always proves a challenge. However, Sienna Miller is clearly not one of those people, as she stepped out in 4 great outfits yesterday and I loved them from head to toe.
Sienna was really popular around 2006/07 for her boho chic style but I wasn't a fan of the whole trend and ignored it completely until it died down. I never really liked her style but that's changed now that I've seen what she's been wearing whilst promoting her new film G.I Joe in New York.
Last week Sienna was getting great publicity for her outfit choices whilst promoting in London so it will be interesting to see where she's going to go next.
I love the Silver top she's wearing in the image on the left it goes really well with the draped skirt, and those metallic heels are a brilliant pick they compliment the outfit so well. The length of the floral dress in the middle is really unexpected but it looks good and she's really limited her accessories to let the clothes do the talking, also, the neckline on the red dress is great and looks almost sophisticated and womanly. I'd like to know whose being styling her (if she has used a stylist) they definitely deserve the credit.

What do you think of Sienna's G.I. Joe promo style.

Be back soon!

Hey sorry about the lack of posts, I'm on work experience at the moment but you'll definitely have something good for tomorrow!

Nasty Gal Vintage

I was introduced to Shopnastygal.com by a whowhatwear.com post and have been hooked ever since. The selection of vintage and new finds are amazing and there really is something in that online store for everyone. Even if its just tights. On Thursday I got a message from Nasty Gal telling me they had a new load of amazing designer goodies. I took a look and the stuff is gorgeous. I urge you all to look. I picked out some of my favourite pieces, and some vintage dresses reminiscent of whats just been shown by current designers. So... take a look.

The dress to the left is 1970s Givenchy and I love love it, if I could buy it I would... but its not cheap, on my budget anyway. It's $1,200 so if you can afford, I'm highly jealous of you but I wish you well. There is only one dress and I'm very interested to see how long it will stay on the market. On the one hand its beautiful but on the other we are in the middle of a worldwide economic crisis.

There are some other goodies on sale in store that remind me of some looks on the S/S 09 runway. Such as this pink frilly dress which reminds me off Luella's S/S 09 collection. Checkout the website for more goodies.

Theres something about Emma and Designers heart thighs!

A few newspapers have suggested that Burberry's recent rise in sales is due to Emma Watson becoming the new face of Burberry. The papers claim that sales in Burberry's Bond Street shop have risen by 12%, despite Emma only joining the brand last month. This is clearly a great time for Emma she's getting loads of publicity for her great outfit choices whilst publicising the new Harry Potter movie (which I hear is getting good reviews) and she looks fantastic in the Burberry ads. In some photos the darkness and cut of her hair is almost reminiscent of Alexa Chung. Anybody agree or disagree?
In other news all the August issues of Vogue, Elle and Harpers Bazaar etc are out and showcasing the best of A/W 09. One trend that seems to be explored by most designers are the thighs. By this I mean thigh high boots seen at Stella McCartney, Giles Deacon and Prada. Or micro minis seen at Louis Vuitton, Balmain and Givenchy. I think this is going to be a very interesting trend to explore, I am curious to see how many everyday women will be tempted into taking on the thigh highs. I think there be a lot more women in mid thigh dresses, although I'd love to see who would brave it in the middle of December.

P.s. remember that Balmain dress Kate Moss wore recently? Well look what George at Asda have done here.

Beyonce steps it up

Today has been a really hot day and marked the beginning of this weeks heat wave. I don't mind the sun but there has to be breeze to make the temperature bearable. I also made the mistake of wearing tights today, so by 3:00pm my feet in particular felt like they were on fire!

On another note, recently I've noticed that Beyonce's style has gotten a lot better, with her outfit choices being a lot easier on the eyes then her other more questionable choices. Maybe she fired her mother as her stylist. Afterall Thierry Mugler has been designing Beyonce's stage outfits for her 'I am... Sasha Fierce' tour, maybe he gave her a few tips...

I really like this dress on her, its by Balmain of course (look at the shoulders) the print of the dress and all those embellishment is crazy but in a good way, the pattern looks irregular so it keeps the eye looking all over the dress, which is a good dtyle for girls who aren't stick thin. This dress does remind me of some of the outfits Beyonce used to go for more, but this ones more tasteful. No? Beyonce wore this to the 2009 BET Awards to pay tribute to Michael Jackson (RIP) she won best female R&B artist and thanked MJ during her speech.

I love the DVF bag in the picture on the left its gorgeous, take a better look at it here. Beyonce also seems to be trying out jeggings (jeans and leggings). I'm not sure how I feel about them or how flattering they'll be, but they look good on her so it may be worth a try. Topshop have some here for a reasonable £20.00 and here in a more flattering pair of indigo treggings (trousers and leggings I assume). As for the dress on the right Oasis do very similar dresses, that I myself own, but you could also try Topshop or forever 21, or something along that line.

RIP MJ

I cannot believe that Michael Jackson died yesterday I'm in huge shock especially because myself and my entire family are huge fans. My mum and I along with some of her friends were in the process of buying tickets on wednesday and one of my uncles already bought some, so I know he'll be devasted.

I feel especially sorry for his 3 kids and I hope that the mother of the first 2 kids does not come forward and they can stay with MJ's family.
p.s. I will be posting later.

Trans genderal dressing at YSl

Comedian David Walliams of Little Britain fame was a guest on GMTV today and his new children’s book “The Boy in the Dress” sparked a few thoughts about men and women in each others clothing and how this has now become slightly more acceptable then in previous years.
Yesterdays Yves Saint Laurent Men's show picked up on this point and Stefano Pilati sent models down the runway in clothing typically seen as feminine, such as jumpsuits, vest tops and belted waists.

However, sharp, well tailored suits were featured on the catwalk, but a tailored blazer would be styled with a sometimes sheer vest top. Trousers remained well tailored but at one point were ‘ballooned’ shaped at the thigh.
Coats were also experimented with in boxy shapes and pleated edges, as well as the classic Trench Coat in a navy palette.

A few seasons ago the Turban trend emerged in women’s wear leaving any apprehensive. This trend was also featured in the YSL show and I am excited to see how many men will experiment with this trend alongside the jumpsuit and ‘Jesus Sandals’!

My personal favourite is the pleated jacket just because I love the design of the jacket. The pleats seem delicate and feminine and thats juxtaposed alongside the masculine structure of the jacket, which is executed perfectly.
I personally think that whether your male or female you should defintely check out this collection because Pilati's work is amazing no matter what your gender is.
