Guests at the Burberry S/S10 show

I thought I'd take a break from the fashion week coverage and take a look at what was being worn off the runway. I love Emma Watson's dress, its a really good fit and cut for her. I've also got some more Wintour magic for you!

I like Alexa's outfit here at Burberry a lot more than I liked her outfit at Luella. Maybe that's just because Luella's show was during the day and Alexa didn't make as much effort as she has for Burberry's night show, maybe she wanted to impress Anna Wintour after they sat next to each at Twenty8twelve last night. Anyway here she is dressed in head to toe Burberry, as you do. I really like how simple yet great this outfit looks.

From an ex T4 presenter to a current one, here is Jameela Jamil doing her tilted head stare for the photographers (am I the only one who notices that she always does this?). Jamil's outfit is a lot darker and seems more covered up than Alexa's but I like the touch of yellow on her shoes.

Anna Wintour is treating us to more of her fabulous sightings, she always looks so poised and put together when she's in front of the camera, I wander what she's like in her down time... if she has any. The metallic dress looks really great here and complements her tanned complexion.

Just as I started to like Agyness Deyn's hair now that she'd grown it out of that odd baby bob she had earlier in the year, she goes and completely changes her it, but I guess that's how Agyness works her style. I like how she's paired the bright blue dress with her brogues (I really want some) here she actually reminds me of that guy from the Misshapes with her hair covering her face. (I really like Leigh Lezark's lipstick in that picture). Victoria Beckham looks really really tanned here but her dress is still signature VB style. What does everybody think of her collection? personally I like it a lot and there are many things in there I could see myself wearing.
I feel like up until recently I haven't seen much of Mary Kate Olsen, and seen even less of Ashley, but after some searching (yeah I google the Olsens) I found some great pictures that will be up on the blog tomorrow. Also I'm pretty sure Alexa and Mary Kate are wearing the same Burberry suede ankle wedge boots.

This is arguably the best outfit of the night. I love the sequins, different versions of this dress was shown throughout the show, so I'm pretty sure somebody on the Burberry team if not Christopher Bailey suggested this dress. After all she is the face of the Burberry Prorsum a/w ad campaign, its one of the perks. I'm sure Emma happily went along with the decision, I know I would with a dress like that. Great choice to both of them.

Agyness Deyn and Twiggy
Emma was seen joking with Gwyneth during the show. Gwyneth was sitting next to Mario Testino and Emma was next to Liv Tyler. Sounds like a pretty good turn out.

Front row at Luella Spring 2010

Anna Wintour looking amazing in a python skin coat front row at Luella's spring show. Anna was also spotted sitting next to Alexa Chung at the Twenty8Twelve show, hands up who thinks Alexa will be the next American Vogue cover girl. Guess the rumours were true about Anna appearing at the front row at London fashion week, I wonder where else will turn up.

I couldn't do a fashion week front row post without putting Peaches Geldof in, she's everywhere at fashion week. However, I refuse to feature her sister Pixie Geldof on this blog until she sorts her hair out. Here Peaches Geldof wears a Luella dress that I'm sure I saw on Zooey Deschanel at some music awards show, possibly the Grammy's.

Alexa normally looks better than this at the front row so I'm a little disappointed and nearly didn't put her in the post, but she looks cute so I'll look past this slight down grade in style. Plus I love the Chanel bag.

Is X factor winner Alexandra Burke after some publicity by showing her face at London Fashion Week? If she is she'll have to try harder because, although I love the Luella Tweed jacket, I'm sure her or her stylist could find a better way of presenting than the way she's dressed now.

Luella S/S10

Ive said it before. Luella Bartley does not fail at impressing me collection after collection. Yesterday was no different I still found the collection beautiful and found something I would personally wear each time a model strode past.
This season, Luella seems to have focused more on shapes whereas in past seasons there were lost of frills and bows. The fabric is very different too, emphasis has really been put on the structure of the piece, note the 50's style dresses with exaggerated hips. There were a lot of pastel colours used as well to brighten up the collection.

I am really pleased with the spring/summer collections so far there hasn't been any nautical references, although Luella showed some polka dots in her collection, but I think that comes up in Autumn as well as Spring. Besides I like polka dots, and I also like bows (see first image)

Richard Nicoll S/S10

I didn't discover the designer Richard Nicoll until his autumn/winter 2008 collection, but his Spring/Summer collection shown yesterday feature some very pretty dresses. Although it doesn't excite me as much as his autumn winter collection did, I still see some good pieces in his collection.
The collection began on a slightly dark note with browns and light greys, with a sort of floral motifs that remind me of wallpaper, but in a good way. Dresses then became tribal with tassells and brown embellishments.
The collection then lightened to teal and rose colours with pink tassells replacing the browns.

.
These are my favourite dresses from the collection. I love the contrast between the structured bodice and the draped skirt. I find the nude coloured dress very sweet and almost delicate despite having this structured element.
Altogether a good collection but I liked a/w08 the best.

Mark Fast S/S 10

Last Night Mark Fast did something that very few designers do. Fast had 3 plus sized models in his show. This became such a problem for the stylist of the show that they quit over Mark's insistence on keeping the models. Some people are seeing this move by the designer as a publicity stunt, as I don't know him personally I can't comment on that but I think its great that there was a little variety in the show, in terms of body size.
Now back to fashion I mostly liked the collection there was plenty of body conscious pieces and some unusual ruffles. There were also some feathers in black and nude which is great because I love feathers, there the perfect embellishment, they can be ladylike and edgy at the same time. I like Fast's collection especially because like myself and my mother he's a knitter. I love knitting (I'm currently making some black thigh high socks) I think its an underrated hobby and its nice to see somebody go a little further with knitting and make things that are a lot edgier. So all in all well done to Mark Fast for a good collection and some variety in your choices of models.

My Favourite

Love the feathers

Love the body con dress

Oscar De La renta S/S10

Dear Mr Oscar De La renta

How do you do it? How do you create the most beautiful dresses year after year? Where do you get your inspiration from? There is not one item from your collection that does not make my jaw drop in amazement, or make me feel jealous that I don't have the funds to buy one of your masterpieces. If I did have the money I would wear your creations all the time, and if I were an actress I wouldn't even threat about what to wear to the Oscars because I know you would come through for me and create the most spectacular garment my eyes will ever see. Every year gets better and better, and next year I hope I can see your creations saunter down the runway whilst I stand on tip-toes in awe at the back row.

Love the theatrical drama of this dress, damn that lucky model Arlenis Sosa, some girls get all the luck

Without a doubt the best collection shown at New York Fashion Week

Monday 14 September 2009

Diane Von Furstenberg S/S10

New York fashion week is in full swing and I adored Diane Von Furstenberg's collection shown yesterday. The collections was filled with beautiful colours from earthy dark dresses to bold neon cuffs and lots of gold and embellishments. Prints included leopard prints which were shown in a more dark glossy tone and paired with equally dark but lovely colours. Lengths were also experimented with, there was a variation of maxi and mini dresses perfect for the beach or city breaks. The bags were amazing with different coloured embellishments and studs, I crave every single bag that went down the runway. Another favourite was a Grecian style draped dress that was shown in white and gold embellishments. The shoes were not the main focus, and were mostly gold strappy wedges but it held the outfits together and didn't take too much away from individual pieces, the same with the neon cuffs they added to the collection and were not styled with embellished dresses. Altogether a beautiful collection.
I have done my best to narrow down my favoutites but you should defintely check out the collection for yourself here.
